Why Correct OBS Settings Matter
Wrong bitrate or encoder settings cause the two most common streaming problems: dropped frames (when bitrate is too low) and buffering for viewers (when bitrate is too high for their upload speed).
The Bitrate Formula
Your max safe bitrate is approximately 70% of your upload speed. This leaves room for audio, network fluctuations, and protocol overhead.

| NVENC (NVIDIA GPU) | Uses your graphics card. Great for high-bitrate streams without CPU impact. |
| AMD AMF | AMD GPU encoding. Similar to NVENC but with slightly higher artifacts. |
| QuickSync (Intel) | Intel iGPU encoding. Best for low-power PCs that don't have a dedicated GPU. |
